The research interests in Yim’s lab have encompassed the effects and action mechanism of medicines that target cell cycle regulators, oncogenes, and signaling pathways using molecular biological techniques related to protein modification, genomic instability, enzyme purification, viral production, in vitro cell culture, and in vivo animal models. Polo-like kinase 1 as a target molecule has been focused on developing anticancer drugs. In addition, anticancer drug efficacy by gut microbiomes and causal factors of polycystic kidney disease and their action mechanisms in ciliogenesis have been investigated.

Current Research Interest

  1. 1. Investigating the action mechanism of PIk1 and development of novel anticancer drugs targeting PIk1
    • Aim 1. Investigating functions of PIK1 in tumorigenesis
    • Aim 2. Screening PIK1-selective inhibitors with a chemical library & studying their anticancer effects using mouse xenograft models
    • Methods
      1. (1) In vitro system : Baculovirus system

        (2) In vivo system : Xenograft mouse models
